Default Parallel computing ...

Laying the groundwork for their continued business health, Intel and Microsoft have coughed up $20 million to fund research into desktop and mobile parallel computing for consumers and businesses. The money, to be paid out over the next five years, will be split evenly between new research centers at the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The software developed by the centers will be given to technology vendors for additional development.
