I've been a member of
http://www.freecycle.org/ for a long time now, and I list a good bit of stuff that Lillian's grown out of, doesn't play with anymore, etc... Every now and then, I get really lucky and 'win' an item i've posted asking for. Well, I saw a post the other day for a wooden wardrobe that had the mirrors missing. I emailed the person asking for it, and included my phone number. She called today. Turns out that she lives about 4 miles from here. Anyway, this wardrobe is absolutely beautiful!! She bought it from an antique shop and broke the mirrors out transporting it when she moved to South Carolina. It's probably about 75-100 years old and made by hand. The wood is dove-tailed. There are no nails that I can see. All pieces just fit together like a huge jigsaw puzzle. I felt really bad about taking something so valuable from her, but she assured me she didn't want or need it. It's going to cost us about $25.00 to have the mirror glass cut, and about $2.00 for the clips to hold them in.
GOD smiled on me today!
