![]() | Cricket thriving at other sports' cost: Gill Sports Minister MS Gill believes cricket is thriving in the country at the cost of other sports and he promised to do everything to right the wrong. "All other sports in the country are suffering because of cricket. I'll try to do something to set it right," Gill said after taking over as Sports Minister on Tuesday. The minister was also pained by the huge gap in income between cricketers and other sportspersons. "Money is showered on cricketers but athletes who win medals in Asian or other international meets don't get similar treatment. Appearing in a photograph with the Prime Minister and that's it," he rued. Dwelling on cricket, the minister said television had changed the face of the game, bringing in huge riches, which had an adverse effect on other sports. |
